The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, has recently announced that he will allow visa-free entry for Indian citizens from December 1st, opening doors of opportunity for travellers seeking to explore this Southeast Asian gem and can stay for up to 30 days visa-free.

He added, “Initial screenings will be conducted for all tourists and visitors to Malaysia. Security is a different matter. If there are criminal records or the risk of terrorism, they will not be allowed to enter.”
Until now, Indians were able to enter Malaysia with a visa-on-arrival, and it costed around RM 200 (Rs 3,558) including the processing fee. Not only Indian but Chinese nationals are also allowed for visa-free entry. This initiative will create extra tourist arrivals and support economic growth.
Thailand also announced the same visa-free initiative for Indian citizens, effective from November 10, 2023 to May 10, 2024, hoping for growth in the tourism sector. Sri Lanka launched this initiative for India, China, Russian and 4 more countries from October 2023.
